1 person critically injured in daylight shooting in Scarborough

A driver in his 20s suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot at from another vehicle on a residential street in Scarborough on Tuesday afternoon.

Toronto Police responded to Dolly Varden Blvd., in the Markham Rd.-Ellesmere Rd. area, at 4:50 p.m. for a shooting.

“Two vehicles were traveling on Dolly Varden from Brimorton Dr. northbound when a person shot from one vehicle to another,” Toronto Police Insp. Jeff Bangild told reporters at the scene.
“There is a black car right behind me that has come to a stop against a tree. The driver of this vehicle was shot during this incident and was taken to a nearby trauma center,” he added.

Bangild said the second occupant of the vehicle was shot but managed to escape unharmed and called police.
“The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling north (in Valley Varden); It is described as a light-colored SUV,” he said. “The number of occupants in this vehicle is unknown and we do not know exactly what weapon was used.”
The police are asking for witnesses.
