£10,000 reward offered for information to trace suspect on anniversary of murder

Police have offered a £10,000 reward for information to trace a suspect wanted in connection with a murder when the victim’s family asked for help on the anniversary of the ‘barbaric’ murder.

Investigators are looking for Ryan Igbinovia, 26, after 23-year-old Michael Fadeyibi was stabbed to death on August 6, 2021 on Henniker Road in Newham, east London.

A man has already been convicted of Mr Fadeyibi’s murder but Igbinovia has still not been found, the Metropolitan Police said.

It has links to the Stratford area of East London, South East London and Birmingham.

I can’t imagine how scared he must have been in his last moments, how he must have fought to his last breath to stay aliveCharlie Fadeyibi, Michael Fadeyibi’s father

The victim’s father, Charlie Fadeyibi, spoke of the family’s “immeasurable” grief on the anniversary of his son’s death as he asked for help.

“On Friday 6th August 2021 my son Michael was taken away in a cruel manner. On that day we lost a beloved son, brother and grandson,” he said.

“I don’t think those in charge ever considered the impact on his family as they carried out their barbaric act of stabbing and killing our son.”

He added: “It is immeasurable for (Michael’s) mother to not only lose her son but also to witness the upset inflicted on her daughter while she copes with her own grief. No man deserves such a terrible death; I can’t imagine how scared he must have been in his last moments, how he must have fought to his last breath to stay alive.

“Two men are responsible for the death of our son and also for stabbing his friend who luckily survived.

“One of those responsible was found guilty on July 4, but the other man was never arrested.

“A year later, I can’t describe how it feels as a father to know that one of the men responsible for my son’s death is still walking the streets at large.

“I urge anyone with information to get in touch with the police and support them so they can be located and brought to justice.”

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “I’m sure someone knows where Igbinovia is hiding.

“If you have seen him or know where he is, I would ask you to get in touch with him.

“Those who do not wish to speak to the police can report anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.”

Mr Fadeyibi was killed after being followed through the streets in the early hours of the morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene but nothing could be done to save him.
