The Lionesses win Euro 2022

Football finally returned home last night as the England women won Euro 2022.

The Lionesses met Germany in the final of the tournament, played in front of 87,000 spectators at Wembley.

It was a goalless first half until Ella Toone scored a stunning goal in the 62nd minute. The 22-year-old outplayed the German keeper and gave the Lionesses a 1-0 lead.

However, Germany equalized in the 79th minute and went into extra time.

But in the 110th minute a scramble in goal saw Chloe Kelly put the ball over the line and England went 2-1 up with 10 minutes to go.

Germany didn’t find an answer and the lionesses won their first European Championship trophy.

It is also the first time an England senior team has lifted a trophy since the men’s team won the 1966 World Cup.
