19-year-old arrested on suspicion of murder after man killed in attack

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 21-year-old man was killed in an attack.
Greater Manchester Police said Salah Adam was killed on Wednesday after he was attacked on Kings Road, Old Trafford.
Initial investigations indicate that Mr Adam came to the aid of a friend who was being pursued by two young men.

Police said it was believed the two men then turned on Mr Adam, resulting in him being fatally stabbed.
Police said a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in the early hours of Saturday and remains in police custody for questioning.
Two men arrested on Wednesday – a 15-year-old man on suspicion of murder and a 16-year-old man on suspicion of possession of an assault weapon – have been released on bail pending further investigation.
The criminal investigation department continues to appeal to anyone with information to report to the police.
Detective Chief Inspector Liz Hopkinson, of the GMP Major Incidents Team, said: “We are aware of the impact this tragic event will have on Salah’s friends and family and the investigative team’s thoughts remain with them as they process this loss. “ terrible circumstances.
“I understand the concern that an incident of this nature will raise in the community and that is why we have deployed additional officers who will be conducting high visibility patrols and providing security in the coming days.
“Although we have made a number of arrests, we are still in the early stages of a murder investigation and are working hard to determine the timing of events.
“We remain open-minded and continue to appeal to the public to share with the police any information they may have about this case.
“It is believed that the two perpetrators were riding a black mountain bike and a yellow Council Beryl bike.”
She said investigations to date indicate that “approximately five people were in the area” at the time who may have important information that could aid the investigation.
Ms Hopkinson added: “If you have been in the area or have any information about this case – even if you have footage such as CCTV or dashcam – I urge you to do the right thing and let us know so we can find those responsible. ‘ and obtain justice for Salah.’
