23-year-old pedestrian fatally struck on highway. 401 in Oshawa

A 23-year-old pedestrian is dead after being struck on Highway 401 in Oshawa late Sunday.

It happened near Harmony Road. shortly after 11:30 p.m

The man was struck in a multi-vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of the highway, Ontario Provincial Police said.

“The OPP received multiple calls from 911 callers regarding a pedestrian standing in the active lanes on the highway,” said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video posted on X.

“When officers arrived at the scene, the pedestrian had already been struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The OPP is asking witnesses to call 905-668-3388.

This is an ongoing investigation.
