3 players who can pick up most wickets in 2nd T20I

Team India delivered a dominant performance with the ball in the first T20I as the South African batsmen couldn’t handle the momentum and seam on offer. The pitch also supported the Protea quicks, but KL Rahul’s courage and Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliance prevented them from going any further.

Baraspara Stadium in Guwahati provided a scoring encounter in the last international match which was an ODI between India and West Indies. However, when the Men in Blue played a T20I against Australia, they were eliminated with just 118.

With bowlers likely to have something on offer, let’s take a look at three players who could have a great outing with the ball tonight:

#3 Tabriz Shamsi

The boys and the coaches encouraged me so much to have fun, play with a smile on my face and express my celebrations. It was so much fun playing there @thehundred so far… a few more games to go 🚀

Tabraiz Shamsi was not able to convince in the first T20I. But he also didn’t have a lot of runs to play with. When the thugs try to take him on, he becomes dangerous with his variations in pace and length.

Wrist spinners have found success on this ground, with Yuzvendra Chahal (3/41 (10)) against West Indies and Adam Zampa (2/19 (4)) against India getting enough bounce and grip off the pitch.

If the South African pacesetters manage to build some pressure with the new ball, it will force the Indian batsmen to go hard on Shamsi, which will get the best out of him and make him a dangerous customer.

#2 Deepak Chahar

What a spell by Deepak Chahar – 2/24 in 4 overs. Gave India two wickets early on, brilliant return from Chahar.

There has been much talk that Deepak Chahar can only become India’s XI if Bhuvneshwar Kumar is unavailable as both are true swing bowlers. Chahar got his chance in the first T20I, swinging the ball both ways with great accuracy.

His sensational inswinger cleaning up Temba Bavuma showed exactly what he’s capable of when it comes to swing. Bhuvneshwar’s form worries the hosts and if Chahar can continue to deliver with the new ball despite being too powerful, he could be included in the main squad for the T20 World Cup.

#1 Arshdeep Singh

Arguably the greatest benefit for the Men in Blue of the first T20I was the way Arshdeep Singh swung the new ball. The left-hander was tipped as a death-overs specialist, but proved that he can also deliver with the new ball if necessary.

Arshdeep pierced the opposition’s batting by reserving all three of his wickets in a lone over and he will be looking to strike early in Guwahati. Australian left-arm pacesetter Jason Behrendorff got a lot of help from the conditions in Guwahati as he scored 4/21 against the hosts in 2017.

Arshdeep will support himself to continue his new ball form and help fill Jasprit Bumrah’s void.
