A little throwback to the year 1984 Hank Williams Jr.?
Don’t mind if we…
On August 1st, 38 years ago today, Bocephus was hard at work filming his music video for All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight, which has proven to be one of the greatest videos of all time.
Directed by John Goodhue, the video features Jr.’s “Brawler Friends” including Kris Kristofferson, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Little Jimmy Dickens, Porter Wagoner, Cheech & Chong and more Party theme at Jr.’s “Outside At The Buddy Bar”. Forest”.
The video plays on some of the group’s inside jokes, including the infamous George Jones driving the lawnmower to the liquor store after having his keys taken away, which he recently earned one Nashville mural.
This video basically has it all – it even featured a cameo by Miss Mississippi alongside the lyrics to “An old Miss Mississippi just walked in the door,” proving that no detail was forgotten in this masterpiece.
The good-natured, same-hearted video ended with a surprise visit from the late Hank Williams Sr., played by an actor driving a Cadillac filled with women through the sky at the end of the song.
It was also the first video to win a CMA Award for Music Video of the Year.
Not difficult to understand why…
Of course, the song was also reworked for them Monday night soccer Theme from 1989 to 2011.
Ol’ Bocephus fell out of favor with the NFL after some comments about President Barack Obama playing golf with Republican House Speaker John Boehner against Vice President Joe Biden and Ohio Governor John Kasich.
The song was re-recorded in 2017 with Florida Georgia Line and Jason Derulo and let’s face it, they probably should have just left it alone…
