Coronation Street bosses played a blind man by signing Jodie Prenger.
Weatherfield’s response to Jane McDonald came on Friday, August 5th with a bang and it was incredible.
That’s why we already love Jodie Prenger on Coronation Street!
1. Glenda is a doer
Seeing her brother George unconscious in the back of a hearse, she jumped into action fresh from her cruise ship.
She calmed the grieving choirmaster’s widow and bravely persuaded her to cremate him with his trombone, in a scene only Corrie could pull off.

Pointing out that molten metal wouldn’t be best when it comes to scattering ashes, she led the widow into the undertakers for her own costume change.
2. Costume change on Coronation Street
Gone was her summer cruising outfit and out came Our Glenda of the Veil.
Let’s say she goes everywhere in an outfit for conducting emergency funerals.
At the wake, she was the most hostess, expertly directing the process and getting Sean to pick up a grieving dentist.
3. She’s enjoying a drink
But once it was over, she chugged back the house red as if a ban was coming in.
And when she faced George’s friend Eileen Grimshaw and immediately pointed out that she smelled like her grandma, a legend was born.
4. Jodie Prenger is classic Coronation Street
Glenda is classic Corrie – and she couldn’t have come at a better time.
A sharp tongue, flaming red hair, and enough tales of her adventures on the high seas to keep viewers entertained for years.
And Jodie Prenger is just great.
The actress has spoken out about joining the cobblestones as her dream, and we’re so glad she did.
5. A Corrie icon in the making
She’s literally the best thing that’s happened to soap since sliced bread, or as he’s called Richard Hillman.
And a little bird tells us she’ll be showing off her vocal skills with a singsong in the coming weeks.

What more do Corrie fans want?
Would that be her behind the bar at the Rovers? Because that’s what happens and it becomes as legendary as Bet Lynch.
Coronation Street normally airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
