We don’t know about you but we’re already weary from the Tory leadership battle for the next Prime Minister and there are still weeks to go.
So to take our minds off the boredom of all the people promising all those things, we thought about which characters from EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street would make the best Prime Minister.
It turns out that there are many competitors.
Here’s our pick of the best.

Emmerdale’s queen of everything, Kim Tate deserves to rule the world.
She had silenced the barking mob at the prime minister’s questions with a steely stare and a perfectly groomed frown.
And yes, she might not always do things in a strictly legal way, but we’re okay with that.
Ken Barlow – Coronation Street
He’s a soap king, so it makes sense that he’d take the most coveted job in Britain.
He was also a teacher at Weathy High, so he knows how to control a bunch of unruly kids, which we think makes him ideally qualified.
Let’s just hope none of those skeletons come out in his closet to embarrass him. Did someone say “Wendy FLAMIN Crozier”?
Shirley Carter-East Enders
Yes, her family life is a mess. And yes, her romantic life is, well, a mess. And yes, she rubs pretty much everyone the wrong way.
But somehow we think Shirley would make a great Prime Minister.
Or maybe it’s just that no one would have the guts to take on her. At least she has our vote.
He’s not the obvious choice, admittedly. What about his criminal record. Hm. Records. And his habit of hitting anyone who disagrees with him.
But we have faith in Mr Dingle and believe all he needs is a chance to prove himself.
Zack Hudson – East Enders
Mainly because he’s really handsome and would give us something to look at as he waxes lyrical in the House of Commons.

Sally Metcalfe – Coronation Street
Yes of course.
Is there a soap opera character better qualified than Sal to take on the G7 armed only with a clipboard and a power suit?
The former Mayor of Weatherfield belongs in politics and we want it to happen.
Coronation Street normally airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
