68% of Americans Felt Safer 2 Years Ago with Trump in Office

Most Americans felt safer two years ago when former President Donald Trump was in office, according to a Convention of States Action/Trafalgar Group poll released Thursday.

The survey asked“Do you feel as safe in America today as you did 2 years ago?”

Most, 67.9 percent, said they don’t feel as safe in America today as they did two years ago when Trump was in the White House. Another 27.1 percent said they felt safe and five percent are unsure.

Both Republicans and Independents, 86.8 percent and 64.1 percent respectively, said they don’t feel as safe in Biden’s America. Democrats remain relatively divided, as a majority of 47.8 percent say they feel as safe today as they did two years ago. However, 44.9 percent of Democrats said they did not feel so safe.

The survey was conducted September 17-20, 2022 among 1,079 respondents and has an error rate of +/- 2.9 percent.

The data comes as American communities in Biden’s America continue to experience a crime wave.

Conservative lawmakers — Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Bill Hagerty (R-TN) — sent a letter to President Joe Biden last week urging the White House to fight the country’s crime tide and show a commitment to law enforcement demanded. among other things.

“Rampant crime is not inevitable – tough law enforcement can stop it,” wrote Blackburn and Hagerty. “But that requires a commitment to law enforcement.”

As Breitbart News reported:

Most notably, Blackburn and Hagerty mention recent cases in Memphis, Tennessee, where 34-year-old kindergarten teacher Eliza Fletcher, mother of two young boys, was kidnapped and murdered allegedly by convicted felon Cleotha Abston.

In another case last week, 19-year-old Ezekiel Kelly was arrested in Memphis after allegedly conducting seven shootings that left four Americans dead. Kelly is said to have live streamed the shooting on social media.

As a result of the rise in assaults and homicides, senators are asking Biden to provide federal grant programs to law enforcement units that fight violent crime. Lawmakers are also calling on Biden to “revive Operation Legend,” which was “initiated by the Trump administration in 2020 and named after a 4-year-old boy who was shot by a stray bullet in Kansas City”:

This operation deployed federal law enforcement officers in nine major American cities to help state and local law enforcement partners combat violent crime. From July through December 2020, Operation Legend made over 6,000 arrests, including approximately 467 for manslaughter, more than 2,600 illegal firearms were seized, and over 17 kilos of fentanyl were seized. In Memphis, this operation resulted in 266 arrests, with 124 people facing federal violent or drug crime charges.

Additionally, lawmakers didn’t ignore the reality of the open border, calling on Biden to close it to “prevent the endemic drug and human trafficking and criminal violence sweeping across it.”

A recent poll by The Economist/YouGov found Biden underwater on crime as 35 percent agree and 47 percent disagree.
