Many college football fans will remember the wild and shameful video from Michigan State Players Attacking Michigan players in the tunnel after defeating Michigan State 29-7 earlier in the season.
Now the actors involved have to reckon with the consequences.
According to that Detroit FreePress, Charges have been filed against seven Michigan State football players involved in the Lloyd Carr Tunnel incident.
In the video, you can see several MSU players punch and kick two Michigan players on separate occasions. The two victims were identified as Ja’Den McBurrows and Gemon Green.
After weeks of investigations by the Big Ten, University of Michigan police and Michigan State University police, and testimonies, the Washtenaw County Attorney’s Office released their findings this afternoon.
The findings state:
“Following the October 29 altercation between members of the Michigan and Michigan State football teams, the University of Michigan Department of Public Safety and Security (UMDPSS) conducted a thorough investigation into possible criminal liability.
Upon completion of these investigations, UMDPSS filed a criminal complaint with the district attorney’s office against several individuals — all student-athletes on the Michigan State soccer team.”
After reviewing the evidence and the law, they concluded that the players involved face the following charges:
Khary Crump, a criminal assault case, violation of MCL 750.82, a felony
Itayvion Brown, one count of aggravated assault, violating MCL 750.81a, a misdemeanor
Angelo Grose, one count of aggravated assault, violating MCL 750.81a, a misdemeanor
Justin White, a case of grievous bodily harm, violating MCL 750.81a, a misdemeanor
Brandon Wright, a charge of aggravated assault, violating MCL 750.81a, a misdemeanor
Zion Young, one count of grievous bodily harm, violating MCL 750.81a, one misdemeanor
Jacoby Windmon, a charge of assault and battery, violating MCL 750.81, a misdemeanor
The statement went on to say that the charges are allegations.
Michigan President Santa J. Ono added:
“At the University of Michigan, we appreciate the thoughtful, deliberate approach of the Washtenaw County Attorney’s Office to this unfortunate incident.
We would also like to express our concern for all the players involved, especially the injured ones. The University of Michigan will continue to cooperate fully with further reviews of this matter.”
Michigan Football spokesman Dave Ursprung said they have no further comment at this time and messages for Michigan State Football have not been returned.
An attorney for an accused Michigan soccer player says there is evidence the Michigan players may have instigated the incident.
