Skipper Rohit Sharma also had words of praise for the ground staff. After his team’s victory, he said:

“I heard that they (ground crew) have been here since 1:30 p.m. They’ve been preparing the outfield ever since, so much credit goes to all management here. It is not easy. The conditions were not easy. So many people came to see the game, it was a full house so it was a big effort for them to get a game going.

Rohit and Axar revel in India’s four-wicket win in Nagpur

Although the weather in Nagpur was fine all day, rain on the eve of the competition resulted in a wet outfield, delaying the start of play. Eventually, an 8-over contest began as India beat Australia.

The visitors scored 90/5 in their allotted overs odds thanks to another stunning inning from Matthew Wade, who hit an unbeaten 20-ball 43. Axar Patel made the starting spin with the ball, winning over Glenn Maxwell and Tim David to return 2/13 of his two overs.

In response, it was Rohit who led the charge as the men in blue were always in control of the pursuit. Despite Adam Zampa’s three-wicket move, the hosts drove to a four-wicket win, with Rohit’s unbeaten 46 earning him Player of the Match honors.

The series now moves to Hyderabad for Sunday’s decider.
