A fantastic first week for Changes Gallery in Darlington
Diane Patterson wanted to open a new art gallery and store to empower Northeast artists.
She hopes that selling more affordable artwork by emerging artists will help raise their profile.
Changes opened to the public on September 28th and after just a week of being open on Skinnergate, the response from shoppers has been really positive.

Diane said: “It was very well received. Everyone comes and says it’s a good idea, and it’s encouraging that these people see how beautiful it is.”
“We show a lot of work from developing artists from the North East.
“We have a three-year lease here, we are here to stay.”
The mix of art styles in the gallery and shop offers artists of all disciplines a place to exhibit their best work.
Both Diane and her husband hope the store and grants will help support emerging talent in the area.
Their aim is to start building an arts center in Darlington.
She added: “There are so few places where artists can show their work and then get a fair price through sales.”
