Louisiana lottery players playing the lottery must check their tickets this morning as a ticket sold for Wednesday’s lottery game is a $2.755 million prize. Now you might be thinking, what are the chances that the ticket is mine? Well, if you’ve played the lottery, the Louisiana Lottery puts those odds at 1 in 5,245,786 if you really want to know.
But believe it or not, Wednesday’s drawing of a ticket sold in Louisiana beat those odds, and as of this morning, the holder of that ticket is now a double millionaire. The Lotto game is one of the “flagship” games of the Louisiana Lottery. Players choose six numbers between 1 and 42, and in the case of Wednesday’s winning ticket, they matched all six numbers drawn.
In fact, large cash payouts have become the norm for lottery players across the state. In the lottery’s June earnings report, we learned that the Louisiana Lottery Corporation paid out $7.4 million to winners in its sweepstakes games. This number includes winning amounts from Easy 5, Lotto, Pick 3, Powerball and Mega Millions.
In the scratch games, the winning sum of the players is more than twice as high. That’s right, scratch card winners bagged more than $14.7 million in winnings in June. And there was $2.1 million in other prizes also awarded to scratch card winners.
But those numbers are for June, that’s July, and you want to know more about that $2.7 million lottery prize, right?
Lottery officials say the ticket was purchased in Laplace at Big River Food and Fuel #7 on the West Airline Highway. Before the big win on Wednesday, the last winning ticket for the lottery game was already in February in Prairieville.
If you want to check your lottery ticket, the numbers drawn for July 13, 2022 are as follows:
02 22 23 26 28 32
Incidentally, the lottery website shows that there are still unclaimed big cash prizes of $120,000 on the books. These big wins include two Mega Millions tickets worth $10,000 each and two Powerball winners worth $50,000 each. You can check the winning numbers of these “unclaimed prizes” right here.
By the way, today’s Mega Millions jackpot of $480 million (estimated) will be the game’s 18th biggest jackpot if won tonight. The drawing is scheduled for 9:59 am Louisiana time and ticket sales must generally close at least one hour before the drawing.
Saturday’s Powerball is valued at $82 million. A little over two weeks ago, there was a Powerball game jackpot winner when a single ticket sold in Vermont took home the top prize of over $366 million.
Remember, if you decide to play lottery games only spend what you can afford to lose. While we love to tell you the stories of the Big Wins in Louisiana, many more tickets are sold for these games which offer the player very little, if any, return on their investment.
