A man in New Orleans gets creative to combat vehicle break-ins

A man in New Orleans hopes his creativity will keep some from breaking into his truck.

WDSU interviewed Martin Schott after his truck was broken into three times within a few days.

While there’s no end in sight to fighting the burglaries in New Orleans, Schott hopes his message to the thieves will keep them from breaking into his truck again.

Using pillowcases, the New Orleans man left a message for anyone who might want to break into his truck, and it reads, “Don’t break in. Nothing to steal”.

Like so many in New Orleans, Schott says he’s fed up with the city’s crime scene and hopes this simple form of communication will save him money on repairs.

Recently, the mayor of New Orleans announced the formation of a special task force to deal with burglaries, but this has not yet affected the crimes committed.

As we’ve reported here over the past few weeks, the burglaries in New Orleans have become such a problem that they’ve drawn the attention of the NFL and NBA, which could impact all future sporting events in the city.
