A student from York lands a contract with a top talent agency in London

Olive Connolly, who attends Razzamataz Theater School York, has just landed a contract with Top Talent Agency in London.

Headteacher Hollie Pickup said Olive joined the school’s Tots group when she was just two years old and has now moved up to the Minis group where she continues to shine.

“She wowed everyone in our summer show with her acting skills,” Hollie said.

Olive had to submit an online video of a scene from Matilda to the talent agency and was then invited to London to audition.

Mum Natalie, a primary school teacher, and dad Tom, a customer service representative, who live in York, are understandably proud of Olive.

“It’s all very exciting but the pressure is quite a lot so I want to protect her from that,” said Natalie.

“She absolutely loves Razzamataz. She played the role of Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and got to sing a solo in front of all the parents, which really boosted her confidence.”

“She’s a big fan of musicals. She’s just learning to read, so she’s memorizing all the texts.”

“The agency said she could do anything from commercials to acting as she was chosen for various roles, it might end up being nothing but you never know. She just thinks it’s a nice, fun day. I don’t know where.” She understands because me and her dad are more athletic, and even though she’s pretty athletic, she just loves singing.

“I would like to thank Razzamataz and especially Olivia Walmsley for engaging her and giving her a lot of confidence.

“We’re just so proud of Olive.”

Warren Becci, Director of Top Talent Agency, said: “I am delighted to be working with Olive. She is so talented and confident for her age.”

“I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.”

After 12 years at York High School, the school is moving to York College from September 16th.

Hollie said: “We believe your children will benefit from this new venue and all it has to offer.”

“It provides us with state-of-the-art dance studios with sprung floors and mirrors, fantastic classrooms with all the technology we need to train students, and dedicated seating areas for student lunches. There is also space for parents to linger and wait for their children if they want.

“If you have any concerns, please contact us. We would be happy to offer you a full guided tour on our first day back. We will also tour the site again and make a short video about the facilities and where you can find us. ”
