A688 Bishop Auckland: One in hospital after morning accident

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) has confirmed that a person was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital after receiving a report of an accident on the A688 in Bishop Auckland just before 8am today (September 5).

They confirmed they had two ambulance crews and a clinical team leader stationed at the scene.

They were also supported by the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

A NEAS spokesman said: “We were called to a road traffic collision on the A688 in Bishop Auckland just before 8am this morning (September 5).”

“We deployed two ambulance crews and a clinical team leader and were supported by our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

“We took a patient by road to Darlington Memorial Hospital.”

This comes after Durham Police confirmed it was a “serious” accident on the A688 at Bracks Farm in Bishop Auckland.

They said the road was closed and advised motorists to seek an alternative route.

They said: “We are currently dealing with a serious road accident on the A688 at Bracks Farm in Bishop Auckland.”

“The road is currently closed in both directions and motorists are asked to find an alternative route.”

“Thank you for your patience. We will let you know as soon as we can.”

Durham Police have been contacted for further information on the incident.
