Workers in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council have ended a long strike that has resulted in household rubbish piling up across the district.
Industrial measures that began August 15 have resulted in half a million garbage cans not being picked up.
The Industrial Relations Agency brokered a special council meeting on Tuesday, which approved a pay deal for council staff.
Unions and management met Wednesday morning and agreed to end the six-week standoff.
The promotion will be suspended from midnight.
This is most evident in the lack of waste management services available to fee-payers, with empty household bins, closed recycling yards and garbage bags lining the streets alongside overflowing public bins.
