AC Milan vs Newcastle LIVE! Champions League game stream, latest team news, lineups, TV, prediction

The Champions League group stage is back and begins tonight with Newcastle’s much-anticipated return to the competition after an absence of over 20 years. The Magpies are back at the top of Europe less than two years after their Saudi-backed takeover and are looking to make an impact on the biggest stage.
However, Eddie Howe & Co. couldn’t have a more difficult task after being included in the so-called ‘Group of Death’ alongside Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and today’s opponents. AC Milan reached the semi-finals last season but welcomed Newcastle to the San Siro just three days after a 5-1 derby defeat to city rivals Inter.
Given the strength of Group F, a win tonight would give both teams a much-needed platform to build on. Newcastle will be without star midfielder Joelinton, although new signing Sandro Tonali is ready to remind his former club of his talents. Perfect evening for this in Milan!
Standard sports prediction
This is a really difficult question. AC Milan are lucky to be in the competition at all after Juventus benefited from the points deduction last season, but they have the pedigree and strength on this stage.
You can never write off Newcastle these days and no doubt every player will be determined to make their return after two decades a positive one.
Newcastle’s defense could well be the deciding factor here, either positively in the form of the influential Kieran Trippier or negatively in the form of the players alongside him.
AC Milan wins 2-1.
Newcastle team news
Alexander Isak is expected to start for Newcastle at the San Siro.
The Swede was left out of the starting XI in Saturday’s win over Brentford but is likely to play alongside Miguel Almiron and Anthony Gordon in attack.
Callum Wilson, who scored the winning goal against the Bees, has been training individually in the lead-up to the game but is not believed to have an injury.
Another expected signing is Sandro Tonali, as the Italy international returns to his former club and the team he supported as a boy.
Joelinton sits on the treatment table alongside Joe Willock, Emil Krafth and Javier Manquillo and will miss the game.
Newcastle Predicted XI: Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Guimaraes, Tonali, Longstaff; Almiron, Isak, Barnes
News about the AC Milan team
Fikayo Tomori is eligible to play for AC Milan tonight after his Serie A suspension.
The Italian giants have plenty of former Premier League players in their squad, with Olivier Giroud likely to be at the forefront, supported by Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic.
