Academy Award-Winning Actress, Singer, Songwriter Irene Cara Dead

“Fame” and “Flashdance” singer and actress Irene Cara has died. Born in New York City, Cara’s biggest breakthrough came in 1980 when she was cast in Fame as Coco Hernandez.
Irene Cara’s publicist, Judith A. Moose, President of JM Media Group, announced that the artist had passed away on social media just after midnight on Saturday, November 26.
It is with deep sadness that I announce the death of Irene Cara on behalf of her family. The Oscar-winning actress, singer, songwriter and producer has died at her Florida home. In the ’80s, Cara’s hit “Fame,” the theme song from the film of the same name, topped the Billboard charts. Her performance earned her a Gloden Globe for Best Actress.
Irene Cara’s “What a Feeling” from the film earned her an Oscar for Best Original Song.
Details of Irene Cara’s death were not disclosed. Irene’s family has asked for privacy as they process their grief.
