Accident leaves workers dead at Spokane Tribe Casino

A worker died after a structural collapse at the Spokane Tribe Casino construction site where a hotel is being built. Local media identified the deceased as Ana Vetter, a 27-year-old local carpenter. The Spokane Tribal Police Department, along with other agencies, is currently investigating the matter, which occurred around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The cause of the accident appears to be a formwork collapse. No one else was injured in the incident. Spokane Tribe Casino General Manager Javier De La Rosa said during a Tuesday news conference that “the family and on-site work team are at the forefront of our thoughts and prayers.”

A commenter on the post added: “I remember she told me she wanted to work in construction. And then she got her first job. She was a very nice girl who was a very good friend of my daughter. This is certainly a tragedy. RIP Ana.”

Tony Edwards of Carpenters Local Union 59 called Vetter “a great carpenter and an amazing person”.
