Here’s something that went a little under the radar during last week’s Meta Connect event. Jump to 42:30 mark in Meta’s keynote (opens in new tab) and you’ll watch Mark Zuckerberg announce that Adobe is making creative apps for the new Meta Quest Pro mixed reality headset.

Referring to Adobe, Zuckerberg said, “Next year they will begin releasing a suite of apps for professional 3D developers, designers and artists – from collaborative design reviews to Substance 3D Modeler using Quest Pro controllers.”

I think we’ll be hearing a lot more about the latter at Adobe Max. The sculpting software is already in beta and lets you play around with digital sound. That actually sounds like it’s tailor-made for VR/AR headsets, as opposed to work meetings with weird legless avatars.

So what exactly are we expecting at Adobe Max 2022? I’m particularly intrigued by this year’s event because there are so many competitors who appear to be eating Adobe’s lunch or at least stealing some of his fries.

First, there’s the increasingly popular Canva, a free graphic design tool that’s expanding into new areas like video editing. It’s one of the main reasons Adobe spent $20 billion on Figma last month (that’s more than Facebook paid for WhatsApp in 2014).

Then there are the text-to-image creators like Dall-E and Midjourney, not to mention Google building AI photo editing into its Pixel phones. With that in mind, I’ve compiled the top five things I hope Adobe will announce or talk about later during the Max 2022 keynote.

Hi, I’m Mark (Camera Editor from TechRadar), welcome to our Adobe Max 2022 live blog. Adobe’s “Creativity Conference” has already started in LA, but today is the big day for the software giant – and everyone who uses its dozens of apps .

Starting at 9am PDT / 5pm BST (or 2am AEST on Wednesday 19th), Adobe will be streaming its two-hour keynote, which will give us a glimpse of the new goodies coming to software like Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro and more come.

But leading up to this big reveal, we expect Adobe to make some teaser announcements on things that will be fully unpacked later. So if you want to know what we hope to see coming to Adobe Max – and our first thoughts on the latest news – stay tuned to this regularly updated live blog. We even promise not to mention the Metaverse (well, we’ll try). Adobe Max 2022 live: all the latest updates for Photoshop, Lightroom and more
