“Afghaneshwar Kumar par vishwas mat karo”- Furious fans roast Bhuvneshwar Kumar as Team India fail to defend 209

It was déjà vu for Bhuvneshwar Kumar and India as they failed to defend a aggregate for the third time in their last four games. The Men in Blue were absolutely beaten by Australia in Mohali on Tuesday (20 September) as the visitors achieved their second-highest running hunt in T20Is.

With Australia requiring 55 runs from their last four overs, it looked like the hosts had things under control. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (0/52) again failed to deliver on death. Harshal Patel (0/49), returning from injury, was battered for 22 runs from his last over.

Despite picking up a number of wickets in the mid-overs, India could not handle Australia’s depth of shot as they pursued the 209 target with relative ease. Matthew Wade was just too good with his 45* 21-ball blitz and proved why he’s still one of the best finishers in the format.

Fans on Twitter were disappointed with Team India’s bowling performance, especially that of Bhuvneshwar Kumar as he was disappointing himself at the Asia Cup. Here are some of the reactions:

I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Same highlights throughout the Asian Cup. Rohit missed, Kohli missed, bowlers missed, Harshal batted, and Bhuvi threw wides dumb @BCCI Forget the T20 World Cup win with these clowns… Literal cheer from all Indian fans:#INDvsOFF

Hat-trick by Bhuvi 19th over and same result😭

Gautam Gombir fought why people didn’t recognize Bhuvi’s fifers in the AFG match and clapped for Kolly Century. 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks Bhuvi for all the memories 😔👍🏻

Referee when Bhuvi throws the 17th and 19th wide

Mai bar bar keh rahi hu.. Please afghaneshwar kumar par vishwas mat karo. Harshal, Bumrah & Arshdeep are India’s top 3 bowlers in the T20s. You should play all games in #T20WorldCup2022 #INDvAUS #Cricket #INDvsOFF

Agli baar bhuvi ko 19th over di toh teri bhi keto diet shuru karwa dunga

0/46 vs WI1/52 vs SL1/43 vs SA1/54 vs IRE0/49 vs AUS*Harshal Patel ~ First Indian bowler to concede 40 or more runs 5 times in a calendar year in T20I#INDvsOFF

We can’t go to Australia with such a terrible bowling lineup, sorry. Boom and Arshdeep are needed in XI.

Gautam Gambhir today: “There was a guy from Meerut who leaked 52 runs and I don’t think anybody knows about it.” #INDvsOFF

To reiterate, only use Bhuvi on one over in the last 5 overs.

India’s Bowling Plan A, B, C, D for the World Cup: Bumrah and Hope.

It’s about time Bhuvi got injured and was replaced by one of Shami or Deepak Chahar

Third rate performance, our bowlers are only suitable for bowling against Uganda and Kazakhstan

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel’s death bowling is a major concern for Team India

Although Australia lost skipper Aaron Finch early on, it was Cameron Green who beat the Indian bowlers from the start. His fantastic partnership with Steve Smith gave the Aussies the lead.

Axar Patel was just brilliant with the ball, taking up three wickets and hitting just 17 runs in his four overs, an incredible feat in a 200+ chase. Umesh Yadav conceded wickets from Smith and Glenn Maxwell in the same over and India came back into the competition with a roar.

But just when they thought they had the game covered, Wade reminded everyone of his knock in last year’s T20 World Cup semifinals with a similar performance in Mohali.

Both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel looked unimaginative as Australia comfortably won the game. These are worrying signs for the Men in Blue as they appear to be overly dependent on Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliance.
