Currently, responsibility for adding dogs to the banned list lies with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

A Defra spokesman said: “We take dog attacks and anti-social behavior very seriously and ensure the full force of the law is applied.”
“This can range from lower-level Community Protection Notices, which require dog owners to take appropriate action to control the behaviour, to more serious offenses under the Dangerous Dogs Act, which can see people jailed for up to 14 years or disqualified from dog ownership.” Possession or result in dangerous dogs being euthanized.”
