A white man pushed and punched the black crew member, according to video taken by a riverboat passenger and released by the WSFA. The conflict escalated when several whites joined in the attack on the black crew member. Separate video shows several black passengers confronting the pontoon boat group after the riverboat docked, sparking another brawl that was largely divided along racial lines.
Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said police will hold a briefing Tuesday to provide an update on the situation.
“While there is a lot of activity and interest in it, we know that we will get through this together as a community, just as we have other situations,” Reed told news outlets Monday, according to al.com. Reed said no one has been arrested yet.

Reed said in a statement Sunday that Montgomery police “acted quickly to arrest several reckless individuals for assaulting a man doing his job.”
“It was an unfortunate incident that should never have happened. While our law enforcement investigates these intolerable acts, we should not become desensitized to violence of any kind in our community. Those who choose violence will be held accountable by our criminal justice system.” Said Reed.
The fight took place along the riverfront in downtown Montgomery, which has developed the city into a tourist and recreational area with restaurants, bars and hotels.
