Arsenal star Granit Xhaka was visibly angry with £70,000-a-week teammate during win against PSV

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka was reportedly furious with team-mate Bukayo Saka during the UEFA Europa League encounter against PSV Eindhoven.

According to, Xhaka was visibly frustrated with Saka, who was caught off guard by a pass kicked into his feet during Thursday’s (20 October) match.

The Englishman, who earns around £70,000 a week at the Emirates (via the Daily Mail), miscontrolled the ball and let it go over the touchline, giving up possession.

The report added that Xhaka clapped in Saka’s direction to tell him to be more focused.

This is the second time the Switzerland midfielder has expressed frustration with an Arsenal team-mate during a game in the last 10 days. During the Gunners’ 1-0 win at Leeds United last week, reported that Xhaka was furious with right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Tomiyasu struggled against Leeds’ high pressing and was quite negative in possession. At one point he seemed keen on playing back at centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes rather than going forward. This provoked an angry reaction from Xhaka, who reportedly jumped up in frustration.

Granit Xhaka’s goal sinks PSV Eindhoven as Arsenal continue their superb start to the season

Arsenal have had a fairly comfortable Europa League season so far, winning their opening three games. However, on Thursday they had to work hard to record a 1-0 win over PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners dominated possession in the first half and even had nine shots, but none of them on target. They smothered PSV’s attack with relative ease, limiting them to a single shot wide in the opening 45 minutes.

Mikel Arteta’s side improved drastically in the second half, despite giving up a little more possession to the Dutch. They finally found the net through Granit Xhaka, who swept in a Takehiro Tomiyasu cross from the right in the 70th minute.

Arsenal besieged PSV’s goal in the second half alone with 16 shots and eight on target, while the opposition limited to just three shots and one on target.

Aside from scoring the all-important goal, Xhaka endured a solid performance. He made three key passes and completed 88% of his attempts to find a teammate. The Switzerland international also won a few tackles on the ground and one tackle.

However, it was the man he was visibly upset with early in the game that stole the show for him. Bukayo Saka was arguably the best player on the pitch, hitting a game-high with five key passes that created three big chances. He also completed all five of his dribbling attempts.
