Ashley McBryde Gets Vulnerable During ‘Made For This’ Episode 7: “Back In The Saddle”

Ashley McBrydes The YouTube series Made For This has recently become one of my favorite video series. She delves deep into the good, the bad, and the ugly of touring and some of the stories of life on the road.

This latest episode tells the vulnerable story of a day when the tour was halted.

When I went on a day horseback riding tour of Montana, the day took a turn for the worst.

The day before a show, McBryde and her team took their makeup artist on a beautiful horseback ride through the countryside in honor of her birthday. Because they were trail horses, they saw what we in the horse industry call a “dead beat break.” (i.e. you could probably shoot firecrackers off their backs, and they wouldn’t bat an eyelid)

However, since horses still have minds of their own, they are not always perfect. The group galloped and McBryde’s horse was excited and pulled away with the herd.

Ashley McBryde had stirrups too long and did whatever it took to make the animal “Woah.” But physics took over and she fell, leaving her unconscious.

McBryde and her team spoke about the seriousness of their injuries and how they impacted the touring schedule.

Because of McByde’s resilience and determination, she did whatever it took to avoid having to cancel tours.

With tears she shares:

“That’s what I do. And if I can’t do it, then I’m not really sure what I am.”

After hearing this story, there’s no doubt Ashley McBryde was made for it. She’s strong as hell.

To hear the story and see McBryde’s determination, watch the video and the rest of the series.
