“Australia” by ICYMI Baz Luhrmann is now a sold-out TV series

If you woke up this morning and thought, “Damn, I wish that 2008 Baz Luhrmann movie.” Australia, Starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, it was a television series where your wishes were granted through a shocking twist of fate.
I’m coming to Hulu, Distant Downs takes the director’s two-hour and 45-minute film and expands it into a six-part series. Essentially, Lurhmann had so much footage on the cutting room floor, it was enough for a very long story. It’s like the Snyder Cut, but for the movie Australia.
Set in Australia’s Northern Territory during World War II, before and including the bombing of the city of Darwin on February 19, 1942, the series literally reunites you with the snooty English aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley (Kidman) and the rural hunk and Cattle driver named Drover (Jackman). As they try to revitalize Lady Sarah’s husband’s barren cattle ranch amidst all their love “Bew-tee-ful keng-ah-rews!” the sparks fly.
Distant Downs comes to Hulu on November 26th.
