While New Zealand chased 281, Glenn Phillips rose with 63 from 42, including four sixes and as many boundaries to lead the visitors to victory. He also shared an important 64-run partnership with Mitchell Santner for the seventh wicket to save the visitors from 205-6. Meanwhile, Devon Conway and Kane Williamson have also recorded half centuries.
Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Agha Salman were the top bowlers for Pakistan at two wickets apiece, while Mohammad Nawaz and Usama Mir scalped one wicket each.
Previously, Pakistan had won the toss, going 280-9 in the 50 overs allotted. Opener Fakhar Zaman scored 101 of 122, including a maximum and ten limits. Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman contributed 77 and 45 respectively.

“I think we were missing 10-15 runs” – Babar Azam after Pakistan lost ODI series to New Zealand
Pakistan captain Babar Azam felt Pakistan scored 10-15 runs fewer, costing them the series decision. He credited New Zealand batsman Glenn Phillips for his match-winning shot that took the game away from Pakistan.
On the post-match show, Babar said:
“We started well and everything went according to plan. Agha took back-to-back wickets and that kept us in the game, but Phillips took the game away for us. I think we were missing 10-15 runs. The way Rizwan hit was good but we had some soft sendings down the middle.”
“Spinner bowled well and kept the batters in check and we carried out our plans, but Phillips took the game from us. The performance of your teammates, especially Zaman and Rizwan, was really good.”
Babar Azam and company will next feature in a five-game T20I series against New Zealand in April.
