Barclays Bank will close another 15 branches in the UK in 2023
According to consumer group Which? By the end of 2023, Barclays will have closed 1,070 bank branches since 2015.
Last year, Barclays closed 184 branches – the second highest number of any major bank, only behind Lloyds Banking Group (which includes Bank of Scotland, Halifax and Lloyds Bank), which closed 186 locations.
Barclays said the decision to close more stores was due to a clear shift in customer behavior as more people chose to bank online.
A bank spokesman said: Barclays would continue to verify its physical locations.

A Barclays A spokesman said: “As in-store visits continue to decline, we need to adapt to provide the best service to all of our customers.”
“When demand is no longer sufficient to support a branch, we have a personal presence through our Barclays Local network and are represented in over 200 locations including libraries, town halls, mobile vans and our new bank buildings.”
“We also support access to cash with our no-purchase cashback service, 24-hour automatic deposit machines and through partnerships with the Post Office and Cash Access UK.”
