BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s Amanda Abbington breaks the silence
The actress shared a quote from late actor Robin Williams on her Instagram Stories this morning. Robin, who tragically took his own life in 2014, was a well-known mental health advocate.
A picture of Robin has the quote: “People don’t fake depression…they fake feeling good. Remember that. Be kind.”
Strictly spin-off It Takes Two host Janette Manrara confirmed the absence of Amanda and her partner Giovanni Pernice on Friday. She said: “We have some breaking news, unfortunately Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend due to medical reasons.”
“Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean Amanda and Giovanni will be back next week if everything is fine. Amanda, we hope you get well soon, my love, and send you best wishes!”
A representative from Strictly Telled The mirror in a further statement: “Due to medical reasons, Amanda Abbington will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing’s protocols mean Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week if all is well.”
Fans were concerned when they learned Amanda would be missing from the upcoming live show and took to social media to wish her a speedy recovery.

One tweeted: “Well this made me sad that Amanda and Gio are missing #Strictly tomorrow. Disappointed, I was looking forward to her cha cha, but the most important thing is get well soon, Amanda. You will be so missed.”
Someone else added: “Absolutely disappointed, she and Giovanni are my favorites so tomorrow will be pretty boring for me.”
