Yes, it’s part of a hostel chain, but it’s quirky, cozy, and stylish. Located in a converted granary, the Generator has an industrial shabby-chic feel: bare brick walls, exposed pipes and beams, dark interiors with leather sofas, velvet chairs, heavy burgundy drapes, and the odd patch of jungle leaf wallpaper. Decor consists of an eclectic mix of pieces from flea markets across the country; here a colorful ceramic lamp with playful clowns, there a vintage apothecary cabinet. Dorms for four to 16 people can get cramped with beds pushed close together — check out a couple before settling down, as some are considerably more spacious than others.
