Bird hunter with nerves of steel stays calm in the face of a charging bear

If there’s a scarier scenario in the great outdoors, I’m not sure I’ve heard of it.

Big, strong, fast, powerful, these magnificent beasts will pounce on you faster than you can imagine, and while it’s just a bluff most of the time, you’ll need to maintain an insane level of calm to properly protect yourself.

That said, if you even get a chance to protect yourself…

Of course, if you’re in bear country, bear spray is a must, even if you’re armed with a firearm.

As you can see in this vibrant video, a gun isn’t always the answer.

The man speaks Russian, although it is unclear exactly where the man is hunting. He appeared to be chasing birds (the side-by-side shotgun seems to indicate this), meaning his shotgun was very good at loading birdshot grenades… AKA not exactly what you’d want to shoot at a bear. Also, you only have two rounds…

Still, two shots proved more than enough for this hunter, who kept his composure perfectly as this mother bear (accompanied by three cubs) charged precipitously not just once or twice, but three times.

The hunters had some dogs with them which may have alerted the hunter to the bear and may have caused the excitement, but every time the pissed off mama bear charges at the hunter, he remains patient and doesn’t fire a shot too soon.

The bear comes within a few yards and the hunter is still reluctant to pull the trigger.

With birdshot in the shotgun, he would have had to wait until the end to deliver the maximum impact of the round on the bear.

Luckily for him, the bear peeled off every time and he never had to shoot. Props to him… the guy has ice water in his veins.

And probably a two in his shorts…

Imagine you’re wandering the Italian countryside, just you and your pops looking for pine cones, and out of nowhere a giant bear sticks its huge head with its huge teeth right out of the bushes.

I’m not sure how they say it in Italy, but we like to say it like this… “You’re screwed.”

Unless you’re the quietest 12-year-old on planet earth…

I almost shit my pants watching this from the comfort and safety of home while this little dude with ice water running through his veins walks back to dad very calmly, the hungry bear following him every step of the way and acting like a nothing happened.

As if he hadn’t just squirmed out of the jaws of a very certain death…

And you’re an idiot like me and thought to yourself, “There are bears in Italy?” I did you a favor and looked it up, and yes, according to the trusty Wikipedia, the brown bear population of the Italian Alps was nearly wiped out in the ’90s, but thanks to conservation efforts, the population is slowly creeping back up.

Skier is way too calm during insanely close encounter with Bear

Okay, I’m starting to have somewhat mixed feelings about bears.

A few weeks ago we posted a video of a Bear mauling a giant moose…and now I’m thinking again that bears are kinda cute, you know, when they’re not tearing a moose apart with their teeth.

A skier in Predeal, Romania was recently taking pictures on the slopes as a bear trotted towards them. The bear makes his way up with the skiers, and it looks like he’s just enjoying himself, lying down a couple of times in the evening. Maybe he’s just trying to get some sun after stomping around in the snowy forest all day.

But after a few minutes of shooting, the skier starts to ski down the slope, and the next moment the bear starts chasing after him at full speed. Maybe he was just playing around, or maybe he wanted to rip the skier’s face off, who knows, right? But what I do know is that I certainly wouldn’t laugh like the skier all the time.

Like buddy, you are WAY to calm down when a bear is this close to you. Granted he’s not a huge bear but look at those claws and tell me he still couldn’t rip your heart out.

Eventually the bear gave up chasing the skier, but judging by the tone of his voice, this guy wasn’t AT ALL worried. Bird hunter with nerves of steel stays calm in the face of a charging bear
