Bishop Auckland’s Wilko is set to close in just six days
The city’s mayor described what a loss it would be and how he felt for all the workers who would lose their jobs.
Stores across the country are waiting to find out whether they would be among the stores slated to close.
The announcement means a number of stores will close on September 12th and 14th.

Bishop Auckland Mayor Sam Zair described his shock that Wilko would be closing.
He said: “This is truly tragic news.”
“It is disappointing for the staff, the workers and also for the city as a whole.”
“I was just hoping that our Wilko would be one of the few to be saved.
“As a city, we just have to get through this.
“It is a huge loss for the region.
