The $215 buy-in $30,000 guaranteed The Big Saturday shuffled and dealt at 18:05 GMT on February 4th. A little over eight hours later, the 160-strong field had been reduced to a single player, Brapan30.
When the money bubble burst “Pillepalle248” eliminated in 32nd place. Her exit secured a minimum of $423.91 for the surviving players. These survivors crashed one by one until only nine PartyPoker players were left in the hunt for the $6,158 grand prize. $786.21 was the minimum the finalists took home, with seven of the last nine filling their bankrolls with four-figure prizes.
“Way2Cold2Fold” found themselves chipless early in the final table action, resulting in a ninth place finish. “billyboyspuff” was the next player on the way to the exits, her eighth place finish bringing $915 reasons to be happy with her performance.
With only seven players left, each was guaranteed over $1,000 for their efforts. The last seven became six with the elimination of “AAzulay” ($1,075) and then five if “antiZZZ” ($1,282) crashed on the track.
Fourth place and $1,556 went to “watch out77” Before “Mardaturan” ($2,073) and “Benibennn” ($3,027) saw their tournament come to a premature end, leaving Brapan30 heads-up against them “Alberto Balsam.”
The heads-up duo decided the tournament without discussing a deal, despite a $1,830 prize difference. The lack of an agreement meant that Brapan30 got their hands on $6,158 when they emerged unscathed from the one-on-one match, allowing AlbertoBalsalm to collect the second prize of $4,328.
Matt Staples narrowly misses the Grand
The $1,050 Grand On February 5th, 74 players took part, including two members of Team PartyPoker: Jaime Staples And Matt Staples. Both Staples brothers boxed in The Grand, and one of them almost walked away with top honors.

Artur Martirosyan ($2,890) finished ninth to get out of slightly less shark-infested waters. Gavin Cochrane ($3,184) and Swedish superstar Nicholas Astedt ($3,483) joined Martirosian as a viewer shortly after his death.
Then came the exits from Joshua McCully ($4,011) and Jonathan Kay ($4,912). Eliot Hudonwho recently won the WPT World Championship at The Wynn Las Vegas for $4,136,000placed fourth in The Grand for $6,382).
