The Friends of Glen Gardens group organized the Heworth Scarecrow Trail, where 25 scarecrows were on display for visitors.
A spokesman for Friends of Glen Gardens said: “It was a brilliant weekend full of scarecrows around Heworth. It was a great success.”
“Everything was put together by hard-working volunteers – and everyone enjoyed homemade cakes and refreshments.
Scarecrows on display ranged from the Loch Ness Monster and Paddington Bear to bumblebees and other insects.
Past events have featured scarecrows of music legends The Beatles, as well as Halloween-themed robots, knights in shining armor and sheep.
The Friends of Glen Gardens group is currently looking for new volunteers. Further details can be found on the website.
The volunteer groups carry out various activities including gardening, baking, running the kiosk and collecting rubbish.
“We have a number of enthusiastic friends who help maintain certain areas of the garden,” a spokesman said.
