Broussard Police Arrest Elderly Man in Homicide Case

Edward Lee, 69, was taken into custody after a brief altercation with Broussard police who had responded to a report of a gunshot.
It turned out that the person who was shot died from a single gunshot wound and was found at her home on the 400 block of E. Fourth Street, where officers had responded. The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.

Broussard police say there was a brief standoff, but Lee was eventually taken into custody without incident. The incident happened around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday evening.
Lee was committed to Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for second-degree murder. His bail was set at $350,000.00. His court date has not yet been set.
