Despite some recent tussles, the Boston Bruins (52-11-5) remain comfortably at the top of the NHL.
Even with losses to the Red Wings and Blackhawks, the Bruins are on the right track in the Atlantic Division. With 14 games remaining, Boston’s main concern is staying healthy.
The Buffalo Sabers (33-29-6) are still in the playoff picture, but they haven’t been doing themselves any favors lately. The loss to the Flyers on Friday was the most recent setback. Buffalo has lost six of their last seven, with an OT win over the Maple Leafs being the only bright spot.
The Sabers have a chance to get closer to a wild card spot on Sunday afternoon and host the Bruins.
Bruins vs Sabers odds
|playing time (ET)||team||puck line||In total||money line|
|Sunday March 19th||Boston Bruins||-1.5 (+132)||Ex. 6.5 (-124)||-178|
|1:00 PM||buffalo saber||+1.5 (-160)||Un 6.5 (+102)||+146|
The Bruins go into Saturday as the -178 favorites, which is not surprising given the over 30-point difference between the teams. Boston’s results have been a bit out of character lately, though. Not only do they have two recent losses to NHL bottom feeders, but both games are over eight overall.
Boston is favored for Stanley Cup odds, but they are closely followed by Avalanche, Hurricanes and Maple Leafs. The Sabers NHL playoff odds still see them as long shots to make it with four teams to pass.

Defense Headlines Sabers’ Struggles
Scoring goals isn’t the problem in Buffalo. On Saturday, the Sabers had scored the third-most goals (248) in the league.
The problem is that they are one of two teams in the top 18 and the only team in the league’s top 10 in this category with a negative goal difference.

According to Natural Stattrick, the Sabers rank 13th in scoring chances and seventh in high threats. They have conceded the fifth most goals from dangerous opportunities.
While they don’t generate many high threat opportunities, the Bruins are sixth in percentage of high threat opportunities and have fourth most goals in that category.
Marchand, Bergeron and Pastrnak keep clicking
The Bruins appear to have put those slight stumbling blocks behind against Detroit and Chicago. On Thursday, Boston defeated Winnipeg 3-0, and on Saturday they defeated Minnesota 5-2.
And all the while, the B’s big guns kept clicking.
The NHL-leading Bruins (48-8-5, 101 points) become the fastest team in NHL history to reach 100 points in a season as they defeat the Sabers 7-1.

David Pastrnak scored his 47th goal of the year, falling short of a career high. He also added an assist that gave him 91 points, four fewer than his career high. Brad Marchand had been a bit cold with just one assist in his last four games but notched three assists on Saturday.
Bergeron also continues to hum along. He endured a senseless three-game drought on Saturday and has a shot at his first 30-goal season since 2019-20. The Defensive Wizard should be in line for a second straight 60-point season.

Bruins vs. Sabers pick
The Sabers lack the consistency needed to keep up with the Bruins. Could they cause a stir? Secure. But do you really want your Sunday riding it?
Also, the Bruins seem to have tightened things up again.
Bruins vs. Sabers Same Game Parlay
|Over 6.5 goals scored||-124|
|Brad Marchand can score at any time||+145|
After an afternoon of assists, Marchand hit back with a goal in the second half of the tie.
And while the Sabers offense is good enough to get away with a pair, the Bruins benefit from a holey Buffalo defense. That’s good enough to finish things off.
The Choice: Over 6.5 (-124)
