Following BTS’ announcement of their hiatus, fans of the K-pop legends have been excited to see what’s next for their favorite idols in BTS’ “second chapter.” It seems that J-Hope is finally starting his journey as a solo artist with a brand new album and fans can’t contain their excitement.

On Saturday, June 25th, BIGHIT MUSIC took to their social media platforms to unveil a teaser for J-Hope’s solo debut.
The teaser announces the album’s name by first showing the letter J against a colorful checkered background. Then the full name jack-in-the-box, appears and spins around while the psychedelic backgrounds rapidly change. The short video has a catchy melody and beat, raising fans’ expectations for the K-pop idol’s solo debut.
Along with the teaser, BIGHIT also shared an official statement to Weverse announcing the album.
“We would like to announce the release of J-Hope’s solo album, Jack In The Box. BTS has turned the page of its new chapter, where members will harmoniously carry out their group and individual activities. J-Hope will be the first member of BTS to start this new journey and release his solo album.
The agency gave fans more insight into the singer’s thought process behind the album’s nomenclature:
“The solo album, as the title of the album ‘Jack In The Box’ expresses, represents his claim to break new ground and continue to grow.”
The statement ended by revealing the release date and delighted fans who didn’t expect to receive all this valuable information at once.
“Starting with his pre-release track, which will be released on July 1st, various content will be featured to showcase j-hope’s creative identity as an artist. Please stay tuned and we will continue to provide you with more details on the album.”
While the pre-release title will be made available on July 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. KST, fans will have to wait until July 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. KST for the full titles.
Fans of the singer, also known as Jung Ho-seok, took to social media to share their excitement after learning of the news.
The idol himself had been building excitement for his upcoming venture not long ago. In a statement, referring to the group going their own way for a while, he said:
“It seems like it’s about time BTS changed their stance on personal albums… It’s my start, but I’m preparing for my solo album.”
By the way, jack-in-the-box already has a fan and it’s none other than BTS leader RM. According to RM, the forthcoming album is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Additionally, J-Hope was recently announced as one of the headliners of the Lollapalooza music festival scheduled for July 31, 2022, making him the first BTS member to hold a solo stage.
