This article covers the ending of the Netflix film Buba and contains spoilers.
Ready Steady Cut Film critic MN Miller calls Buba “A Guy Ritchie-like comedy that’s hard to enjoy.”
Jakob Otto (Bjarne Mädel) is the main character in the popular Netflix series, How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast). His character gets the Saul Goodman treatment with his prequel movie, Buba. That’s the name of the character in the series, and the film serves as an original story. As a child, he lost his parents in a car accident. His brother Dante (Freuds Georg Fridrich) survives, but Jakob is raised by his violent, angry and possessive grandmother. Why wasn’t Jacob there? That’s because he secretly signed up for a breakdance competition. Which was directed by Leonardo Dicaprio, and believe it or not, as the film states, the uber-famous movie star was a breakdance champion.
There he had his first kiss. A girl named Jule. It was the best moment of his life. He feels so guilty, and to his grandmother’s delight, when Jacob feels something good to balance his life, he hurts himself. A life that continued where his brother, who suffers from Foreign Accent Syndrome (FAS) and now has an American accent. He grew up as a disgusting, pompous mess with a rat’s tail. The brothers are now hosting a cheating game in their town, in which Dante intentionally has his brother smashed by cars. The car owner will hand over cash to avoid police and possible prosecution.
Dante takes advantage of his brother’s superhero-like ability to endure the pain. Jakob has now woven this coping skills into everyday life. So much so, in fact, that he is a stuntman at a local German western show. He is set on fire daily and jumps off a balcony. He meets Jule (Anita Vulesica), the girl who gave him his first kiss. Jule owns a local tattoo parlor in town and gets tattoos all over his body. He uses areas of the body like his elbows, between his fingers and toes, and even inside his lower front lip. Places with the thinnest skin where Jakob can feel the greatest pain.
The brother auditioned for the Albanian and they don’t trust Dante but love and respect Jakob. They are now part of the crew and their associates known as “fake Albanians”. ” Soon Jakob becomes the star of the group. His penchant for taking an insane penalty for every score earns him everyone’s respect. They give him the name Buba, which refers to Albanian folklore. This is known where a harmless animal “is misled by the demon Boller and then transformed into a heartless monster”.
Netflix movie Buba end explained
Remember how I said the real Albanians named Dante and Jakob are the fake Albanians? Well, it turns out that the brother’s new bosses are fake Albanians themselves. Why? As a way to create intimidation without actually having to do much intimidation. When the Ottos beat up a member of the real Albanian mob, they were all in big trouble. Dante also has a problem with Jakob finding love for Jule because it means his most important resource is his little brother’s ability to get the job done by being able to endure pain.
Buba finds out his brother faked his condition. Dante attempts to frame Doro for the murder by storming Yeta’s wedding. The plan is to kill them all. Then the Albanian’s son shows up along with Jule’s daughter to take back some cocaine they believe is rightfully theirs. Jules gets the bat signal and we discover her backstory – she once worked as a muscleman for the Albanian. Yes, some others will be killed, but Alex and his group will be shot now. Before Jules Buba warns that they must go or be ready because the Albanian is coming for them, Dante accidentally shoots and kills himself.
The final scene is an extension of the first of the film, where we see Buba accidentally shoot himself with a 3D printed gun. There are post credit scenes where we see Buba ride along with his crew members and crack a pistachio shell, which has bothered him all his life. His brother always said Buba was very lucky, which shocked him as he seemed to enjoy the lousy variety his entire life. Perhaps breaking the shell means his luck has reached its peak.
