Summary of Crunchyroll anime series Buddy Daddies Season 1 Episode 9, “No Sweet Without Sweat” that contains spoilers.

Things ended up taking on a much darker tone buddy dads Season 1 Episode 8with rice father deliver a hit Kazuki (voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga) And miri (spoken by Hina cinema). While viewers knew his family was intense, no one could have predicted they would try to murder Rei’s new family. Whether or not Kyutaro warns them of the imminent attack will make all the difference between Kazuki and Rei (voiced by Koki Uchiyama) ready to defend themselves. It seems that the lines between blood family and family of choice are blurring in a way that could have devastating consequences.

Buddy Daddies Season 1 Episode 9 Summary

The episode begins with Miri, Rei, and Kazuki in the park helping her practice for her upcoming field day race. Afterwards, they visit Kyutaro’s cafe for a drink. As night falls, we see a man spying on Miri’s daycare and later learn it’s Rei as he returns home in full gear.

Kazuki, Rei and Miri arrive at their daycare for field day. As she walks away with her class, they secure a spot to take photos and meet with several other parents. As a daycare representative, Miri gives the field day greeting.

Kazuki, Rei and the other parents watch as the children participate in various outdoor activities and events such as tug of war. The group then takes a lunch break before the afternoon activities begin. The race on the first afternoon is the race where Miri is hoping for a gold medal.

How come Miri falls during her race?

As Miri takes her course, Kazuki and the other parents cheer. Rei cheers as well, getting louder and louder as he overcomes his shy demeanor. However, the sound of his voice surprises Miri, causing her to trip and fall mid-run.

Will Miri win a gold medal?

After tripping during her run, Miri falls behind and is unable to come back. She does get a medal, but it’s not gold, it’s a participant’s medal.

However, she later wins a gold medal in the parent-child race.

The feeling that Miri’s loss was his fault; Rei chooses to drop out of the parent-child race while Kazuki works with Miri instead. The pair compete against other students and parents in a race full of obstacles, while Rei quietly cheers them on from the sidelines.

One of the final obstacles in the race is a scavenger hunt, where each pair gets a card with an item to find. Miri draws her card and appears a bit dejected at first before grabbing Rei as her item. After running across the finish line, Miri reveals that her scavenger hunt card said “Family”.

Buddy Daddies Season 1 Episode 9 ending explained

Though tired of leaving evidence, Kazuki and Rei agree to take a family picture together when Miri’s teacher offers. The group then goes home together at the end of Field Day, commenting on Field Day events and how they plan to train for the following year.

The episode ends with Ogino reminding Kyutaro to “don’t forget the job” while looking at family photos of Kazuki, Miri, and Rei.

Although today’s episode of buddy dads felt like filler, it was still cute and entertaining like much of the show. I can understand why they decided to give us this moment between Kazuki, Rei and Miri to really build the whole family’s point of view, but after last week’s rerun it would have been nice to see a bit more action. For a show about assassins, not much of it was included in the series as you would expect.

The episode’s ending brought viewers back to the latest issue, which is the hit that Rei’s family took from Kazuki and Miri. Hopefully we can see some more developments with it next week.
