The show challenges contestants to work as a team on a longline boat in very difficult conditions to catch large cod.

Your job is to catch as many fish as possible, which means a lot of money for everyone involved.

The newbies must pass a demanding three-week test and impress their captains and crewmates to earn a place aboard the ship during peak season.

Caitlin was drawn to the show because of her love of fishing, which began when she lived in Texas with her father.

The former Ryedale School pupil spotted an advert for the show on Facebook and decided to apply.

Caitlin received the call to say she had had success working overseas on a superyacht.

After flying to Iceland and boarding the boat, she worked shifts of eight hours on and one week off for three weeks.

The task at hand required the team to catch, gut and hook the fish – some of which weighed 75 pounds.

She also struggled with cameras pointed in her face most of the day and had trouble falling asleep due to the constant rocking of the boat.

“It was the most stressful job of my life,” she said.

But Caitlin explained how determined she was to get through the fights to prove she was just as strong as the much bigger men.

She ended up earning a five-figure sum from her catch.

The show has already aired in America, Canada and Iceland and fans took to Caitlin’s direct messages on social media to praise her efforts.

Many hailed her as a “badass”.

Despite the hard work it took to put on the show, Caitlin said: “If they contacted me I would do it again.”

After a long wait, she said her family and friends were excited to finally see her on screen.

However, Caitlin is back working as a private carer in Ryedale and will be on shift during the screening this evening.

There will be a total of 13 episodes of Ice Cold Catch on 5Action.
