Carrie Underwood Returns To The ‘Sunday Night Football’ Open For 10th Year

Carrie underwood returns for her 10th season singing the icon Football on Sunday night theme song.

NBC, home of SNF, announced their return last night during the Pro Football Hall of Fame game, which I inexplicably watched while waiting for football season to start.

It’s not a game that counts for anything, with hardly any first players taking the field, and it’s more ceremonial for the weekend of Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. The Las Vegas Raiders beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-11 last night, whatever that’s worth.

Needless to say, the announcement that Carrie was coming back for 10th grade was by far the most exciting thing that happened during the game:

“This #NFL Season will mark 10 consecutive years Carrie underwood Starring at the legendary Sunday Night Football Open.”

Of course, Faith Hill was the SNF girl for many years, belting out “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” on TV across America every weekend, but I’ve loved watching Carrie perform and carry on the torch for the past decade. If anyone is vocally on Faith’s level, it’s Carrie Underwood.

Per the usual with the SNF opener they partially revised last year, the video itself looks a little different each weekend depending on the location of the match and the matchup. Also, the lyrics will change slightly depending on which teams are featured that week.

Carrie also shared a post on Instagram about her return, saying she can’t wait to get back for the September football season, along with a short clip of this year’s video and a little recap as well:

10 years and we’re still going strong. See you Sunday evenings from September!”

NFL preseason games begin next Thursday and continue through the weekend, with regular season games officially returning as well Thursday night soccer on 8.9.

Here is the 2021 version of the song: Carrie Underwood Returns To The ‘Sunday Night Football’ Open For 10th Year
