In a recent video posted to his YouTube channel, Chael Sonnen gave an insight into what changed his mind about Paddy Pimblett and why he wouldn’t crush the prospect going forward.
“The Baddy” has an aura and personality that fans either love or hate, and while he has many fans, he also has a handful of people against him. His weight issues are an ongoing concern for the 155-pounder that fans don’t agree with, but there are some who aren’t fans of his outspoken kind.
Speaking to his subscribers about Paddy Pimblett, Chael Sonnen insisted the Scouser’s performance was “as close to perfection” as one can get. This was due to what the fighter went into battle with.
“As good as Paddy looked in his ability to pick up the pace and outperform his opponent, outpace and outperform his opponent, I swear he was struggling with stress and pressure, mentally and physically…I’ll give you that feat.” was as close to perfection as I have not seen in a long time.”
“And I tell you, he wasn’t at his best. When he gave that post fight interview and we found out he was dealing with a death… He stayed professional until it was time to break up and be a real human being… My days living Paddy made it difficult are behind me.”
The Brit put on another impressive performance in the octagon when he received a rear-naked choke on Jordan Leavitt at UFC London earlier this year. However, it was his post-fight suicide awareness speech that caught the world’s attention.

Who will Paddy Pimblett meet next?
Paddy Pimblett sits on the sidelines waiting for an opponent to be brought forward by the UFC. But who should the lightweight be realistically up against on its next outing?
The 27-year-old, who is 3-0 since the start of his UFC journey, will soon be knocking on the door of the top 15 at 155 pounds.
Many unranked lightweights seem to have all the potential in the world, but a duel that stands out from all the rest is a grudge against Ilia Topuria. The two had a backstage brawl, and with their fighting style, it would make for a potential Contenders War fight of the year.
