Cheltenham Festival 2023 LIVE Results: Horse Racing Updates, Breaking News, Odds, Day 3 Betting Tips
It’s day three at Prestbury Park with some of the week’s bankers attending the course. Day two did not disappoint as Energumene poked fun at early doubters to fly home in the Champion Chase to give trainer Willie Mullins his record-breaking 92nd win at the festival. Earlier, Langer Dan had been lucky for the third time in an exciting Coral Cup.
Looking ahead to today’s action, the likes of Mighty Potter in the Turners Novices’ Chase, Shishkin in the Ryanair Chase and Luccia in the Mares’ Novices Hurdle are expected to rage home, while the main race of the Stayers’ Hurdle includes our nap of the Day in Home By The Lee. However, Flooring Porter and Blazing Khan hope to prove us wrong.
After the rain yesterday and this morning, it will remain soft with more showers expected on Thursday. All the action starts at 1:30pm and you can follow all of Prestbury Park with our dedicated blog below!
Weather and ongoing update
The wind is drying the course this morning after a warmer night. The bottom is still soft, too good to soft, but that could improve by showtime.
Our nap of the day
This year’s festival should prove to be Cheltenham for the ages – and the quality remains sky-high on day three.
The Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle (3.30) feature is as profound an update as you’re likely to see.
Flooring Porter is vying to win this event for the third year in a row, but there are three horses smaller than him, all Irish trained: Blazing Khal, Teahupoo and house by the lee.
The key to Teahupoo’s chance could be the ground, the softer the better. It will not matter to the other Irish hopes and Home By The Lee, only sixth in the race last year but a better horse now, is looking pretty solid by any measure.
