Chris Barrie aka Arnold Rimmer from Red Dwarf will be at Teesside Comic Con

Teesside Unleashed Comic Con returns to Teesside University Students Union on Campus Heart on Sunday October 1st.

Celebrity guests include Chris Barrie, best known for his role as Arnold Rimmer in the popular British comedy Red Dwarf.

The actor, also known for his roles as Gordon Brittas and the butler to Angelina Jolie’s Lara Croft, will be available to chat with fans and sign memorabilia throughout the day.

Lindsey Jordan, stage presenter at Teesside Unleashed Comic-Con, said: “We’re back at university and this time we’re joined by the legendary Chris Barrie.

“I’m delighted to give his fans on Teesside the opportunity to meet him as he’s a real joy to chat to and is full of stories about his time on set.”

“You might also want to come dressed in pink because you can immerse yourself in the world of Barbie and transform into a living doll or raccoon and pose next to Baby Groot.”

“Teesside Unleashed Comic-Con may be smaller than most, but it’s still powerful and full of geeky delights.”

Organizers of the event said it was designed with the intention of bringing out the “mega fan” in all participants.

They added that the convention was structured to appeal to new visitors and veterans alike, with many pop culture interests on display.

Organizers said the event will feature movie sets, Transformers and other film/TV characters, games, and comic and animation artists and writers, as well as numerous sales tables with comic books, Funko Pops, toys, collectibles and original art.

They invited participants to dress up as their favorite character, no matter how complicated or simple the cosplay, and take part in the costume masquerade where there are prizes for the winners to win.

The event starts at 11 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. Adult tickets cost £8 when purchased online or at the door and children under 16 cost £5.
