Christophe Galtier provides injury update on 2 PSG stars ahead of Ajaccio clash

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) boss Christophe Galtier has given an update on Vitinha and Presenel Kimpembe’s fitness ahead of their trip to Ajaccio.

Still unbeaten in Ligue 1, PSG sit three points clear at the top of the league, having just beaten Marseille at Le Classique. They will be strong favorites to beat Ajaccio, who are currently in the relegation zone and have won just two of their first 11 games.

Ahead of the encounter, Galtier was asked about the duo’s fitness as Kimpembe missed their last four Premier League games with a hamstring injury. According to RMC Sport, the PSG boss confirmed that the 27-year-old is not fit enough to start the journey.

Meanwhile, Galtier also confirmed that the blow Vitinha suffered against Marseille wasn’t serious and that the Portuguese star can take part in the upcoming clash. During a press conference ahead of the game, Galtier told reporters about Kimpembe:

“He has been training regularly, he has completed 100% of the sessions without restriction. But he will not be in the group.”

Commenting on Vitinha’s absence from training on Thursday, the 55-year-old added:

“He did very specific work and for individual work on areas that he had to do.”

Neymar, who has received too many yellow cards and is therefore suspended, will also be absent.

Christophe Galtier praises the PSG defender who has returned to his best form

Marquinhos has been slammed by PSG supporters for his underperformance for much of last season but Galtier seems to have got the best of him again.

The France coach was full of praise for his captain at his pre-match press conference, as he explained:

“He is a very important element of our team. He had to play a different role than what we had been able to offer him in previous years, in a three-way defence, very axially. He had automatic anticipation and we had trouble dealing with depth at times.”

He added:

“He was able to remedy the situation quickly, position himself better, understand the game better. He also had difficult matches, but he is a player who plays all games. “

He further remarked:

“He is the player who masters the depth most often. The few small positioning errors are linked to a very important rhythm that affects him. In a four-man defense he has a lot more standards. It’s also important to have Marco Verratti up front from him.”
