With Brian Tyree Henry And Kate MaraThe story takes place across three timelines, each influenced by one another, and teases the broader conspiracy that has led to the development of a confident AI crime-fighting system that makes our near future look like an Orwellian technological dystopia.

Here’s what happened vintage ’09 Season 1, Episode 3:

• In the past, Poet was taught by the FBI to do an aggressive J-turn, which pays off in the future timeline where she gets pulled over and almost arrested for manually driving instead of letting her Tesla drive herself.
• In the current timeline, Hour created Better Life, a networked database designed to allow FBI agents to share resources and knowledge in real time. However, the Presidium is fighting against the system and shutting it down.
• Tayo hits a wall while chasing Mark Tupirik and turns to Hours System for help. Better Life helps him capture Tupirik, but the man seems happy to be locked up and warns Tayo that something is about to happen.
• In the future, Poet brings the information Amos gave her to Hour. It shows that the system is now confident and working without human intervention, and that Tayo knows more than he’s letting on.
