Colombia secure quarter-final tie against England as the Women’s World Cup tale continues

In a hard-fought round of 16 match without any clear chances, Colombia scored the only goal of a 1-0 win when veteran Catalina Usme struck six minutes after the break from a precision Ana Maria Guzman pass.
Reaching the quarter-finals of a Women’s World Cup for the first time, Colombia meet Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses, who beat Nigeria on penalties after yesterday’s goalless draw.
Colombia, ranked at No. 25 in the world, finished top of Group H after beating South Korea 2-0 and beating Germany 2-1 before losing to eventual runners-up Morocco.
The Quarter-Finals between England and Colombia get underway on Saturday at 11:30am BST at Australia Stadium in Sydney.
On Tuesday, France and Morocco meet around midday to determine the composition of the last eight. The winner meets hosts Australia for the Lionesses.
