Will there be a second season of The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House?

At the time of writing this article, Netflix has yet to confirm the future of the series.

The Makanai works very well as a single, isolated television series, leading to a fitting and poignant conclusion that we’ve detailed in our end explained Article. While the premise could conceivably go on forever, maybe a year per season, there is something sweet about leaving the story where it is now, as both main characters got exactly what they wanted from their experiences in the Maiko house as well stay very close together.

There’s still plenty of source material to draw from and fan interest to market, but if we were to guess, we don’t think so The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House will be renewed for a second season. If we’re wrong though, well… it wouldn’t be a bad thing to check back in with Kiyo and Sumire and see how they’re doing.
